Beat Adult Dyslexia
==================================

Tools for the Dyslexic:Learning to Navigate Through a Non-Dyslexic World When You View the World Completely Differently

There are also many positive aspects of dyslexia and we will explore these aspects in this article. I also attended a non-traditional school for my graduate degree:an online university that was perfectly fine with granting me extensions to finish courses and wanted students to e-mail or call professors taking as much time as they needed to argue any problem. Later on, I got a job working for a politician writing letters for him to constituents. In addition, teachers have to "revamp" their classroom routine to help dyslexic students and when they have a "schedule" to keep, they are anything but interested and motivated to help students learn. Yet, following many parent teacher conferences, the teachers still seemed to 'miss the boat" on how to help me learn. I want you to understand that despite my learning disabilities and my difficulties in school, I still managed to find ways to deal with my dyslexia continuing to be a successful individual. It can be the difference of failure or success for the individual suffering with this debilitating ailment. As though adulthood is not difficult enough, dyslexia adds a dimension of complexity to the lives of those who suffer with it.

Public Speaking

Since dyslexics flip pronouns around and will say an inversion of what they mean to say, the simple task of thinking through a sentence or phrase will help to eliminate this embarrassing mistake. e. If you find that you are thinking about things too fast, and thus stating something too quickly and fall into a flip flopping mistake, this is a tool that you should use. Let this be a lesson to you.

Verb Agreements

When speaking with someone else, you should find that slowing down when you speak and correcting what you say will help you form correct sentences. Do you find this is an area you need to work on? Do have trouble speaking and getting your verb agreements to match? For example you state, "Your good work is a testament to the dedication you had for your company.

Writing

For me, writing has always been easier because of my personal need to double check everything. Write it first, then go back and look at it again. If you find that you tend to verbally switch verbs or pronouns, I suggest putting everything in writing and asking for people to e-mail you instead.

Taking Standardized Tests

Once you have picked the appropriate answer, fill in the circle on your answer sheet. This can be attributed to (find the answer that BEST answers this question)
A. Those that do not have any problem with standardized tests will tell you that they never skip over questions without filling in an answer, they do not read into the questions and they do not fill in the wrong answer knowing what the right answer is. For example:

The feral cat population is heavy in certain parts of the country. So, how can you combat these aspects of a standardized test, (not reading into questions and checking make sure you have filled in each and every answer), by carefully checking your work. Dyslexics do this on a regular basis without knowing they did this, and are furious with his or her self when they inadvertently got the wrong answer. Sample Question: The feral cat population is heavy in certain parts of the country. You should also look at how the question was asked and how you answered it. The first question you must ask yourself when getting ready to take a multiple choice exam is simple. None of the above

Answer sheet:
A
B
C
D

Notice, the person filling in this answer, filled in the incorrect circle on their answer sheet. If you answered a question where you seemed to miss what the question was asking of you, you need to do the following.

Instructions

It took another person who could look at the instructions objectively to show me where I was going wrong. I once bought a futon from a name brand company and couldn't figure out how to put it together no matter how many times I read the instructions and looked at the pictures. Make sure you have a clear idea of where you are going before you venture out in your vehicle. Following driving instructions can be so frustrating yet so embarrassing when I make any mistake in front of another person. Also, looking at a map before you venture out will also prove to be useful and even more helpful is a GPS unit to read directions to you as you drive. I find that my flip flopping nature has not changed, but with the tools I have put in place, I have been able to figure out quickly what I did wrong to fix it efficiently.
